A woman was hospitalized and a man is in custody after a stabbing Wednesday afternoon at Willow Grove Park Mall in Abington Township, police said.
The incident occurred around 2:30 p.m. inside the mall. Authorities say a man stabbed the woman near a jewelry store before fleeing the scene, reportedly running through the Bloomingdale’s department store.
Officers later located the suspect at a nearby bus stop along Moreland Road, where he was taken into custody without further incident.
The victim was transported to a hospital, and her injuries are not considered life-threatening, according to police.
Investigators do not believe there is any ongoing threat to the public.
"The suspect is in custody, and there is no threat to the community," Abington Police wrote in a statement.
As of about 4:30 p.m., officers were still interviewing witnesses and working to determine what led to the attack. The identities of those involved have not yet been released.
“Willow Grove Park thanks our property team and local law enforcement for resolving this in a swift manner,” a mall spokesperson said.
