A Camden, N.J., man is facing multiple felony charges after allegedly attempting to pass a fraudulent check at a Horsham bank, with a second related arrest later the same day in a neighboring township.
Joshua Louis Santos, 32, of Camden, is charged by Horsham Township Police Department with felony counts of attempted forgery and attempted access device fraud, along with a misdemeanor count of attempted bad checks, stemming from an April 8, 2026 incident.
According to investigators, Santos first attempted to cash a fraudulent check at a TD Bank branch on Horsham Road in Horsham Township. Bank employees became suspicious and contacted the business listed on the check, Meglio Rustica LLC, which operates a pizza shop in Newtown, and were told the check had not been authorized.
Authorities say Santos left the Horsham bank before the transaction was completed.
Later that same day, Santos allegedly attempted to cash another fraudulent check at a TD Bank branch on Bethlehem Pike in nearby Montgomery Township. Officers with the Montgomery Township Police Department responded to the bank around 12:55 p.m. and took him into custody.
Police said Santos presented identification and attempted to cash a check for $2,530.18 drawn on the same business account. Investigators confirmed with the business owner that the check was fraudulent and had not been authorized.
As a result, Santos is charged in Montgomery Township with multiple felony counts, including access device fraud and forgery, along with related misdemeanor offenses.
Court records show Santos is free on $5,000 unsecured bail in both cases.
Preliminary hearings have been scheduled in both jurisdictions. The Montgomery Township case is set for April 28 before Magisterial District Judge Andrea Duffy, while the Horsham case is scheduled for May 21 before Magisterial District Judge Todd Stephens.
All suspects and defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty. This report is based on publicly available court records.
