A woman was arrested after being caught stealing merchandise from the Five Below store at 110 Park Avenue in Upper Moreland Township, according to police.
Alicia Thomas, 48, of Philadelphia, is facing charges stemming from the incident.
According to the Upper Moreland Police Department, a store employee reported that Thomas allegedly took multiple items from the store without paying. Thomas reportedly first entered the store at 3:01 p.m. and left at 3:15 p.m. with a canvas tote full of cosmetics and beauty products. She returned two minutes later, filling another tote, at which point Kindle called 911 while Thomas was still in the store.
Police arrived on the scene and intercepted Thomas as she attempted to leave. Officers recovered the stolen merchandise, which included 29 individual cosmetic items valued at $140.33. Thomas, who has four prior retail theft convictions, was placed under arrest at 3:33 p.m.
During the arrest, officers also recovered suspected controlled substances, including marijuana and a substance consistent with PCP, as well as paraphernalia. All items were logged into police evidence.
Thomas was transported to the Upper Moreland Police Department and is now facing charges related to retail theft and possession of controlled substances.
A preliminary hearing is scheduled for April 10, 2026 at 8:45 a.m. before Judge Thomas P. Murt.
