In celebration of Women’s History Month, Horsham Township is highlighting a historic moment in its local government and recognizing the women helping shape the community’s future.
For the first time in the township’s history, women have held four out of the five seats on Township Council, a milestone that reflects the growing role of women in local leadership. Township officials say the achievement underscores the strength, dedication, and commitment of those serving the community.
The group is made up of President Samantha Slaff, Vice President Ellen Zschunke, Treasurer Elizabeth Thomson, and Board Member Dr. Ruth Patterson. John McCarty serves as the only male on the board.
The women on council have been credited with bringing thoughtful leadership and a strong sense of public service to their roles, helping guide decisions that impact residents across Horsham. Their work continues to support the township as a place to live, work, and raise a family.
As part of Women’s History Month, the township is also recognizing the broader contributions of women past and present who have helped shape Horsham. Officials say they hope the milestone will inspire future generations to pursue leadership roles and stay engaged in their community.
Township leaders expressed appreciation for the service and impact of the women on council, noting that their leadership represents an important step forward for Horsham.
