A little online criticism turned into a moment of fun last week for a local Hatboro eatery.
The Steel Penny Cafe, located at 451 Oakdale Ave, Hatboro, recently spotted a negative review from a less-than-happy customer who claimed they didn’t enjoy their visit to the popular local spot.
"They don't even have mayonnaise for a turkey sandwich it's the worst for big money you can have it and enjoy," the review read.
Instead of getting defensive, the owner decided to have some fun with it.
In response, the Steel Penny Cafe posted a picture of someone in the restaurant holding two huge jugs of mayo.
"Welcome to episode #324 of things that people say online, when they have no idea what they’re talking about," Steel Penny Cafe wrote.
Not only did the customer not use any punctuation while leaving the review, but the review itself was wrong. As the playful social media response pointed out, "Oh, btw we don't even have turkey sandwiches..."
As part of the lighthearted response, residents and customers also jumped in on the fun, leaving their own reviews. The playful reply quickly caught the attention of regulars and community members, many of whom appreciated the humor and hometown charm.
"I went to Steel Penny Cafe, and I didn’t see steel OR pennies on the menu," one response said.
"Sounds like it’s time for a turkey sandwich lunch special!" another user wrote
"NOT only is steel penny Fab, BUT now I know they also have great clientele...I never laughed so hard at a post and the comments thread! See you soon, and whatever i order MUST HAVE MAYO ON THE SIDE!" another commented.
