Hatboro officials are sharing an update on the West Moreland Avenue bridge project, acknowledging that residents have yet to see visible progress.
While the old bridge structure has been removed and the contractor is ready to proceed, utility-related issues, particularly with Verizon, have delayed construction.
The Borough acknowledged the challenges this delay has created for the community. Officials stress that the length of the project is largely due to the complex network of utilities in the area, not the bridge replacement itself.
"The Borough like most of you are not happy with this project, the issues that this project has brought onto the Borough and the residents in the area, the lost parking at the pool and the park are some of the things we are dealing with," the post said.
Borough staff are regularly visiting the site and maintaining contact with Montgomery County and the contractor to monitor progress and address any issues.
The project involves replacing Bridge 38, which carries West Moreland Avenue over a branch of the Pennypack Creek between Hatboro and Upper Moreland Township.
The bridge replacement is part of Montgomery County’s ongoing infrastructure improvements, which include several other bridge projects across the region to update aging structures and improve safety.
