The Horsham Township Police Department asked for the public’s help Friday evening after officers encountered a man in need of assistance in the Maple Glen section of the township.

According to police, patrol officers found the individual walking in and out of traffic along Norristown Road near Roosevelt Drive. Officers believed the man to be non-speaking and potentially in need of help, prompting concern for his safety and well-being.

"Our fine patrol officers did some darn good investigative work and have learned that our new friend is missing from his caretaker's residence in Cheltenham Township," Horsham officials wrote.

Police issued a public alert requesting assistance around 6:30 p.m. in identifying the man while officers remained with him and attempted to determine where he lived. Authorities later confirmed that the individual had been identified and his caregiver was on the way.
