A Philadelphia man will serve time in the Montgomery County jail after admitting his role in an organized retail theft ring that targeted multiple Home Depot stores across Montgomery County and the surrounding region, according to a report.

Kristopher Heard, 39, of Philadelphia, was sentenced in Montgomery County Court of Common Pleas to 9 to 23 months in the county jail after pleading guilty to felony charges of organized retail theft, conspiracy to commit retail theft, and conspiracy to receive stolen property. The charges stem from incidents that occurred between May and August 2025.

Judge Risa Vetri Ferman, who accepted a negotiated plea agreement, also ordered Heard to serve four years of probation consecutive to his parole. In total, he will be under court supervision for six years. As part of his sentence, Heard must undergo substance use disorder supervision and is prohibited from entering any Home Depot store.

Heard admitted he worked with two other men as part of an organized theft enterprise responsible for stealing more than $51,000 in merchandise from Home Depot locations in Montgomery, Delaware, Bucks and Philadelphia counties.

Heard and his co-defendants were ordered to pay $51,350 in restitution to Home Depot, which is headquartered in Baltimore.

According to investigators, the group committed 38 thefts between May 18 and Aug. 11, 2025, frequently targeting Montgomery County locations.

Stores hit locally included:

The Home Depot on Cheltenham Avenue in Cheltenham Township

The 2200 block of Easton Road in Willow Grove

The 200 block of Alan Wood Road in Plymouth Township

The 700 block of Horsham Road in Montgomeryville

Police said the group focused on high-value items such as Ryobi pressure washers, air conditioners, battery starter kits, Shark vacuum cleaners and Milwaukee battery-powered chainsaws.

In one May 27, 2025 incident at the Cheltenham Township store, surveillance video allegedly showed Heard and a co-defendant entering with empty flat carts, loading multiple air conditioners valued at more than $2,100, and walking past all points of sale without paying before fleeing in a vehicle.

Authorities said the stolen merchandise was later transported to Philadelphia, where it was resold at below-market prices through so-called “porch sales” and other methods.

One co-defendant, Terrell Jackson, 40, of Philadelphia, has also pleaded guilty and is awaiting sentencing. A third man, Balvin Greene, 33, is still awaiting further court proceedings.

The investigation was conducted by Montgomery County detectives along with officers from Cheltenham and Plymouth townships. Search and arrest warrants executed in Philadelphia in August 2025 led to the recovery of approximately $10,000 in stolen merchandise.
