A 37-year-old Allentown man has been sentenced to state prison for assaulting a pregnant woman outside her Hatboro apartment last spring, according to The Philadelphia Inquirer.
Raymond Bautista was sentenced Tuesday at the Montgomery County Courthouse after pleading guilty to aggravated assault and no contest to aggravated assault of an unborn child. Steven T. O'Neill sentenced Bautista to four to six years in prison and ordered him to have no contact with the victim and to attend domestic violence counseling.
According to police, the attack happened around 4:30 a.m. in April 2025 as the woman was leaving for work. Investigators said Bautista, wearing dark clothing and a ski mask, struck her from behind, kicked her in the back and stomach, and punched her in the face before fleeing when she screamed.
The woman, who was 15 weeks pregnant at the time, suffered a broken nose and other injuries. Authorities said she had recently told Bautista, a coworker at a Hatfield-based food processing company, that she intended to keep the baby after he urged her to take emergency contraception and said he did not want involvement in the child’s life.
Police later obtained surveillance and doorbell camera footage showing a vehicle matching Bautista’s traveling from Allentown to Hatboro around the time of the assault. After initially denying involvement, authorities said Bautista admitted to the attack when confronted with the evidence.
