A Philadelphia man has been sentenced after admitting he financially exploited an elderly Upper Dublin man while working as the victim’s home health aide, according to a report.
Damian Sincere Aime, 22, of the 2000 block of N 6th Street in Philadelphia, pleaded guilty in Montgomery County court to financial exploitation of an older adult or care-dependent person, a felony.
Aime was sentenced to 3 to 23 months in the Montgomery County jail, followed by two years of probation. Because the probation will run after parole, Aime will remain under court supervision for roughly four years. He will also receive credit for 79 days already served in jail since December.
According to authorities, Aime exploited the elderly man in January 2024, withdrawing cash and making purchases without the victim’s permission. Investigators determined Aime made $4,490 in unauthorized ATM withdrawals at a Wawa between Jan. 3 and Jan. 7.
Police also determined Aime used the victim’s Amazon account to purchase items, including video games and sneakers, totaling $1,846. Investigators said he also made additional unauthorized purchases using the victim’s Best Buy credit card.
The case began when the victim’s daughter reported suspicious activity on her father’s bank account to Upper Dublin Township Police Department. The victim requires 24-hour care, and Aime had been working as a caregiver through Aveanna Healthcare.
As part of the sentence, Aime was ordered to pay $7,074 in restitution and have no contact with the victim. Several additional charges were dismissed as part of the plea agreement.
