Burglars of Hatboro business caught after leaving footprints in the snow, according to police

The trail ultimately led officers to three brothers who had allegedly committed the burglary just moments earlier

  • Public Safety

A burglary investigation in Hatboro ended quickly after police followed footprints left in freshly fallen snow to three suspects, authorities said.

According to the Hatboro Police Department, officers were dispatched around 2:44 a.m. on Feb. 16 to a security alarm at Sullivan Scrap Metal, located at 451 Oakdale Avenue.

When officers arrived, they discovered fresh footprints in the newly fallen snow outside the business. Police followed the tracks for an extended distance as part of their investigation.

Authorities said the trail ultimately led officers to three brothers who had allegedly committed the burglary just moments earlier.

Police took Matthew Knight, Edmund Knight, and Andrew Knight into custody in connection with the incident.

All three were charged with burglary and related offenses, according to police.

Authorities did not release additional details about what the suspects were attempting to steal from the scrap yard. The investigation remains ongoing as the charges move through the court system.
