A crash on the Pennsylvania Turnpike Thursday evening led to a second collision involving an ambulance near the Fort Washington Interchange, according to reports.
The incident began around 6:29 p.m., when a vehicle reportedly spun out and crashed on the turnpike near Exit 339. Emergency responders from the Community Ambulance Association of Ambler were dispatched to the scene.
While responding, the ambulance was struck by another vehicle, according to initial reports. The impact was strong enough that a door was reportedly torn off the ambulance.
The vehicle that struck the ambulance was pulled over a short distance ahead following the collision, according to reports.
Despite the damage to the emergency vehicle, no injuries were reported among EMS personnel inside the ambulance.
The driver in the original spin-out crash suffered minor injuries.
Traffic delays were reported in the area as emergency crews responded and began clearing the scene.
