A Philadelphia home healthcare worker is accused of stealing thousands of dollars from a 94-year-old Abington Township woman who had hired her to help care for her disabled daughter, according to reports

Emontrea Lewis, 30, is charged with conspiracy, forgery, theft by unlawful taking, receiving stolen property and unauthorized use of an access device.

According to reporting, the investigation began Nov. 8, 2025, when the elderly victim reported that her credit card and checkbooks had been stolen and used without her permission.

According to police, the stolen credit card was used to make several purchases in Philadelphia and six transactions at the King of Prussia Mall on Oct. 13, totaling $647.08. Authorities also allege that 12 stolen checks were deposited between September and November 2025 using a mobile banking app, totaling $6,300.

Investigators said Lewis continued working in the woman’s home even after her employment with the caregiving company had ended. Surveillance video from a store at the King of Prussia Mall allegedly showed Lewis and a man, identified as 30-year-old Akeem Williams, using the victim’s credit card.

Police allege Lewis stole the victim’s purse, which contained the credit cards and checks, and worked with Williams and others to cash the checks and use the card.

Lewis was arrested during a traffic stop in Philadelphia and later released on unsecured bail. A judge ordered her to undergo a mental health evaluation. Her preliminary hearing is scheduled for March 12. Williams has also been charged, and police continue efforts to locate him.
