A powerful winter storm swept across the Philadelphia region Sunday, bringing heavy amounts of snow and ice to Montgomery County and Bucks counties.
Some areas saw up to 10 inches of snow, with flurries beginning as early as 4 a.m. Snow continued falling steadily, with rates at times an inch or more per hour.
Snow became heavier across the region, leading to rapidly accumulating snow on roads and surfaces that made travel nearly impossible with reduced visibility and slick conditions.
By noon, the snow was still heavy in many spots, and totals by early afternoon around the Philadelphia region had already reached 6-8 inches in many townships.

SEPTA suspended most transit services by 2 p.m. as winter storm conditions continued to deteriorate across the region.
By late afternoon, sleet and freezing rain continued for many areas, creating icy conditions on roads and surfaces. Snow and sleet continued to add to the total snowfall through the evening.
