Horsham Township will receive nearly half a million dollars in state funding to replace aging water infrastructure, part of a broader package of grants secured by State Sen. Maria Collett for Montgomery County communities, according to an announcement.
According to Collett’s office, the Horsham Water and Sewer Authority has been awarded $488,750 through the state’s Small Water and Sewer Program for the Upland Avenue Area water main replacement project. The funding is intended to improve reliability, reduce the risk of water main breaks, and modernize aging infrastructure in the neighborhood.
“I’m excited to announce grant funding to make our neighborhoods safer, healthier and more sustainable,” Collett said. “Our municipal partners work hard to keep our roads maintained and our taps running, and these critical projects will ensure local infrastructure continues to effectively serve our community.”
The Horsham project is part of more than $4.1 million in Multimodal Transportation Fund and Small Water and Sewer Program grants secured by Collett for municipalities across the 12th Senatorial District. While several communities will see roadway and sewer improvements, the Horsham funding is specifically targeted at replacing outdated water mains that are essential to everyday service for residents.
Officials say water main replacement projects help prevent service disruptions, address leaks, and ensure safe drinking water for homes and businesses. The Upland Avenue Area project is expected to address infrastructure that has reached the end of its useful life.
