Horsham Township police arrested a man on Dec. 29, 2025, after he was accused of attempting to fraudulently withdraw thousands of dollars from a bank account that did not belong to him.
According to police, officers were dispatched at approximately 3:26 p.m. to First Trust Bank, located at 1 Walnut Grove Drive, after receiving a report of a fraud in progress. Bank staff reported that a man was attempting to access an account using a fraudulent identification card.
When officers arrived, they observed a male matching the suspect description standing at the lobby counter. The man was detained and later identified as Steven Michael Brady, of 39, of South Carolina.
Police said their investigation included speaking with the legitimate account holder, who confirmed that no permission had been given for Brady to access or withdraw funds and that he did not know the suspect. Bank management told officers that Brady presented an altered identification card displaying the victim’s personal information but bearing Brady’s photograph. He also completed a withdrawal slip for $4,900 and signed the victim’s name.
Bank personnel contacted police after identifying the fraudulent activity and kept the suspect on scene until officers arrived.
Brady was placed under arrest and transported to the police station for processing. Police said he was advised of his Miranda rights and later admitted to his involvement in the attempted fraud. According to the criminal complaint, Brady told investigators that he had been instructed by individuals he met online to carry out the withdrawal in exchange for a share of the proceeds. He stated that those individuals drove him to the bank and provided the fraudulent identification.
Police further allege that Brady admitted to carrying out a similar fraudulent transaction earlier that same day at a bank in Cherry Hill, N.J., involving approximately $8,500.
All suspects and defendants are innocent until proven guilty. This story was compiled using public court records.
