The Horsham Township Police Department marked the end of an era this week as Officer Barrington “Barry” Ramsay signed off on his final radio call, officially retiring after nearly three decades of service to the community.
Township officials and fellow officers congratulated Ramsay on his retirement, thanking him for 28 years of dedication, professionalism, and commitment to keeping Horsham residents safe.
"After 28 years this is my final transmission," he said in his final radio call. "Dispach, thank you for bringing me home safe every day. To my brothers and sisters ... I'm proud to have shared this ride with you. Stay strong, stay safe."
Throughout his career, Ramsay earned a reputation for integrity and reliability, consistently going above and beyond in his role. Whether responding to emergency calls, engaging with residents, or supporting community initiatives, colleagues say he exemplified the values of modern community policing.
Ramsay joined the department 28 years ago and quickly became known for his strong connection with the people he served. According to the department, his favorite part of the job was interacting with the community, a reflection of the relationships he built with residents over the years.
Police officials described Ramsay as an officer who brought professionalism and dedication to every aspect of his work, contributing not only to public safety but also to the sense of trust between the department and the community.
"On behalf of the Horsham Township Police Department, residents of Horsham Township, and Montgomery County Department of Public Safety, we thank you for your 28 years of dedicated service to our community. Thank you for all you have done, and we wish you the best in your retirement and future endeavors," officials said.
