A Hatboro teenager accused of helping set up a robbery and assault at a Horsham Township park is asking a judge to move her case from adult court to the juvenile justice system, according to a report.

Kassidi Marie James, who was 17 at the time of the alleged July 2025 incident, is awaiting a hearing in Montgomery County Court on a petition to transfer her case to juvenile court, where proceedings focus more on rehabilitation than punishment.

According to the latest reporting, defense attorney Pierre Latour III argued in court filings that James, now 18, is “amenable to treatment” and does not pose a danger to the community. He noted prosecutors do not allege she personally used or possessed a weapon and that the case marks her first contact with the criminal justice system.

James, of the 400 block of Jacksonville Road in Hatboro, faces charges including robbery, aggravated assault, conspiracy, reckless endangerment, and related offenses tied to a July 6, 2025 incident at Lukens Park off Dresher Road in Horsham Township. She remains free on bail pending trial.

Because of the violent nature of the allegations, she was charged as an adult. Montgomery County Judge Steven T. O’Neill will consider the transfer request at a hearing next month, where prosecutors will have an opportunity to respond.

According to investigators, Horsham Township police responded around 10:57 p.m. July 6 to a report that a man had been robbed of his cellphone and vehicle at the Lukens Park playground.

The victim told police a female acquaintance had invited him to the park and that three males dressed in black later emerged from bushes, two armed with guns equipped with flashlights and lasers. He told detectives he was beaten, robbed, and feared for his life before the suspects fled.

Police allege James contacted the victim earlier that evening through Instagram and suggested meeting at the park. After arriving, she allegedly encouraged him to walk along a trail moments before the attack occurred.

Detectives claim James did not intervene during the assault and left the area with the attackers afterward.

Investigators later obtained a warrant to search James’ cellphone and uncovered text messages allegedly coordinating the meeting with Ethan Justin Marquis, 18, of Horsham, and Shawn Robinson Jr., 19, of Dresher.

Authorities allege the messages show a plan to lure the victim to the park before carrying out the robbery and assault.

Marquis and Robinson have also been charged in connection with the case and are awaiting court proceedings, according to court records.

If the case remains in adult court and James is convicted of felony robbery or assault charges, she could face incarceration in an adult correctional facility.
