The Hatboro Police Department is warning residents about a recent wave of scam calls in which individuals are falsely claiming to be law enforcement officers, including members of the Hatboro Police Department.

According to a notice issued Thursday morning, police have received reports of scammers contacting residents by phone and posing as Hatboro officers or department staff. The callers allegedly attempt to trick individuals into providing sensitive personal information or sending money.

Police emphasize that legitimate law enforcement officers will never demand payment or request sensitive personal information over the phone.

Residents who receive a suspicious call from someone claiming to be a Hatboro Police officer are urged not to provide any personal information and to verify the caller’s identity.

Anyone with questions about the legitimacy of a call is encouraged to contact the Hatboro Police Department directly at 215-675-2832.

Officials remind the public to remain vigilant and to report any concerns.
