Jefferson Health and Hatfield Ice announce collaboration and rink renaming

Jefferson Health and Hatfield Ice have announced a new collaboration that brings together health, wellness and community recreation.

The iconic rink, located in Hatfield and established in 2001, will now be known as Jefferson Health Arenas at Hatfield Ice.

The initiative supports Jefferson’s mission to improve lives and build healthier, stronger communities by expanding access to physical activity, youth sports, and wellness education, a statement said.

Jefferson Health will provide health screenings, educational information, wellness programming and more.

“This rink is a place where kids build confidence, families connect and healthy habits begin. By partnering with Hatfield Ice, we’re extending our reach across our network to improve the health and well-being of our community,” said Brian Sweeney, Regional President, Jefferson Health.

“Our footprint in this area, including numerous primary care providers and three hospitals within a 13-mile radius, allows us to bridge the gap between community recreation and world-class clinical care, meeting our patients exactly where they are.”

Jefferson Health Arenas at Hatfield Ice is home to several local youth and university hockey clubs. It will continue to offer public skating, figure skating and children’s birthday parties year-round, according to Jefferson.

Plans are underway for a public grand opening event in late March, featuring a ribbon cutting with remarks, player appearances, and health and wellness activities, according to Jefferson Health. In a post on their Facebook page this week, Hatfield Ice said they are “very excited about this new partnership! Over the next few weeks, you’ll see Jefferson Health signage installed throughout the facility. Stay tuned for details on an upcoming special event.”
