Hatboro dessert lovers have a reason to celebrate with the arrival of Lochel’s Bakery’s latest creation.
The local bakery, 57 South York Road, recently unveiled its newest addition to the menu: Mounds Bar.
This indulgent treat begins with a thin, fudgy layer of brownie that forms the base for a creamy coconut macaroon spread. The topping is toasted to perfection, then sprinkled with rich chocolate chips, creating a mix of textures and flavors. Sweet, salty, chewy, and chocolatey all at once, the Mounds Bar satisfies every craving in a single bite.
For an extra indulgent twist, the bakery owners suggests serving it with a scoop of vanilla ice cream, turning the dessert into a miniature celebration on a plate. Its balanced flavors and crunch make it a standout among the bakery’s offerings, appealing to both longtime patrons and newcomers alike.
The Mounds Bar is available now, offering locals a perfect reason to stop in, treat themselves, and experience the sweet innovation that has become a hallmark of this beloved neighborhood bakery.
About Lochel's Bakery
For more than 80 years, Lochel’s Bakery has been a destination for fresh baked goods in the Philadelphia region, with roots stretching back to 1942. The bakery began in Philadelphia before moving to Warminster and then Levittown.
A turning point came in 1995, when a devastating fire on Labor Day destroyed the bakery’s Levittown location. Later that year, they seized the opportunity to start fresh in Hatboro, opening at 57 South York Road in November 1995, where the bakery has served the community ever since.
In 2005, third‑generation owners Rob and Kathy Lochel took over the family business. Since then, the bakery has flourished, continuing traditional recipes while expanding offerings to include celebrated decorated cakes, seasonal specialties, and a wide array of daily baked goods.
Lochel’s Bakery has become a Hatboro institution, known for unique items like German Apple Cake, Bee Cake, and specialty donuts made for occasions like Fat Tuesday. Over the years, it has drawn crowds from across the region with its classic flavors, custom designs, and dedication to quality.
The bakery’s place in the community was further recognized when it earned national acclaim by winning Dawn Foods’ “Sweetest Bakery in America” contest, an honor that brought new attention and even more customers to this longstanding local business.
