Horsham Police Chief details reckless driving, alcohol in fatal Horsham Road crash, according to authorities

Authorities have released new information following a fatal multi-vehicle crash Saturday night on Horsham Road.

According to Horsham Chief of Police Scott J. Fida, the crash occurred on Saturday, Feb. 7, 2026, at approximately 8:00 p.m. in the 1200 block of Horsham Road, and involved three cars. 

When officers arrived on scene, they found a dark-colored Jeep Wrangler fully engulfed in flames and a black Cadillac Escalade overturned on the side of the roadway. A third vehicle, a Toyota Camry, was also involved and remained at the scene.

Preliminary investigation and eyewitness accounts indicate the Cadillac Escalade was traveling westbound on Horsham Road at a reckless speed. Police say the Escalade attempted to pass the Toyota Camry, which was also traveling westbound, by entering the eastbound lanes and driving against oncoming traffic. The Escalade then struck the Jeep Wrangler head-on.

The driver of the Escalade was found unresponsive, not breathing, and heavily entrapped inside the overturned vehicle. Officers confirmed the driver was the sole occupant but were unable to free them due to the extensive damage. The individual was later mechanically extricated by Horsham Fire Company and pronounced deceased at the scene by Medical Command.

The driver of the Jeep Wrangler was able to exit the vehicle before it became fully engulfed in flames. That driver sustained multiple serious injuries and was transported to a local hospital for treatment. The driver and passenger of the Toyota Camry were not injured.

Police reported that alcoholic beverages were found in and around the Escalade, and investigators have not ruled out impaired driving as a contributing factor. Toxicology results are pending an autopsy conducted by the Montgomery County Coroner’s Office.
