A road rage incident involving a firearm in the Dresher section of Upper Dublin Township has resulted in criminal charges, according to police.
The incident occurred around 8:17 a.m. on March 19 near Welsh Road and Fitzwatertown Road, when officers were dispatched for reports of an armed subject following a crash.
According to the Upper Dublin Police Department, the victim was driving eastbound on Welsh Road when her vehicle was sideswiped by a pickup truck that did not stop. She followed the vehicle until both stopped at a red light at Welsh Road and Computer Avenue.
At that point, the victim told police she asked the other driver to pull over and exchange information. Instead, the driver became confrontational, then allegedly produced a handgun, pointed it at her, and made a threatening statement.
Fearing for her safety, the victim called 911 as the vehicles continued moving. The suspect vehicle later turned onto Kimball Avenue and left the area.
Using license plate reader technology, police identified the vehicle as a light blue Dodge Ram registered in the area. Officers located the vehicle and made contact with the driver, identified as Roxanna J. Griggs, 65, of Ambler.
According to police, Griggs admitted to driving the vehicle but denied both the crash and displaying a firearm. However, she later retrieved a loaded Taurus G2c 9mm handgun from inside her residence, which police say matched the victim’s description, including a light-colored grip.
Officers also observed damage consistent with the crash on both vehicles. Police noted that the victim appeared visibly distressed during a recorded 911 call, in which she reported that a gun had been pointed at her.
Based on the investigation, authorities have filed charges against Griggs in connection with the incident. The case remains under investigation.
