Horsham Road remains shut down in both directions between Davis Grove Road and Babylon Road after a serious crash involving a car and a tractor-trailer led to a diesel fuel spill Friday afternoon.
The accident occurred shortly after 2 p.m., when a white four-door Lexus collided with a trailer truck along the busy stretch of roadway. According to initial reports from officials, the Lexus sustained significant damage to its rear driver’s side, while the tractor-trailer suffered heavy damage to the front passenger side. The impact ruptured a fuel line on the truck, spilling diesel across the roadway and prompting a hazardous materials response.
Emergency crews, including units from the Horsham Fire Company Ambulance, Horsham Fire Company, and other assisting agencies, quickly arrived on scene to secure the area and begin cleanup operations. Firefighters and first responders worked to contain the fuel spill and prevent it from spreading further, while traffic was immediately halted in both directions.
Authorities have not yet released information regarding the number or extent of any injuries. Police are urging motorists to avoid the area and seek alternate routes, as the closure is expected to cause significant delays during the evening commute.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
