Kathleen G. Kane, the onetime Pennsylvania Democratic attorney general whose career collapsed after a criminal conviction nearly a decade ago, is reemerging in the public eye with a new podcast.

Spotify listings show that the program, titled "Through the HurriKane," is scheduled to premiere Sept. 16. Promotional material describes the show as focusing on “resilience, healing and finding hope after the storm.”

Kane, 59, recorded a message introducing the podcast, in which she said it will explore how to overcome life’s darkest moments.

“We all experience a hurricane, but the human spirit is indestructible,” she said in the clip.

Rise and fall in Harrisburg

A Scranton native, Kane made history in 2012 when she became the first woman and the first Democrat elected as Pennsylvania’s attorney general. Her tenure ended four years later after a Montgomery County jury convicted her of leaking secret grand jury material to the press and lying about it under oath.

Prosecutors argued she released documents in 2014 to retaliate against former state prosecutors Frank Fina and Marc Costanzo, who she believed had damaged her reputation, according to Times-Tribune.

In 2016, Judge Wendy Demchick-Alloy sentenced her to 10 to 23 months in jail. The state Superior Court upheld her conviction on appeal, and the state Supreme Court later declined to review the case.

Kane reported to the Montgomery County Correctional Facility in late 2018 and served about eight months before her release the following year, her sentence shortened for good behavior.

Later legal troubles

Her legal issues continued in 2022, when she was arrested in Scranton following a minor car crash. She was acquitted of driving under the influence later that year in a nonjury trial.

Efforts to reach Kane about her new project were unsuccessful.

The first episode of Through the HurriKane will be available on Spotify and other streaming platforms beginning Sept. 16.
