A fitness challenge honoring those who lost their lives on Sept. 11, 2001 will take place this weekend within Valley Forge National Historical Park.

Hosted by the Washington Memorial Chapel Veterans Commission, the Patriot Day 9/11 PT Challenge is slated to begin at 8 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 13 at the Washington Memorial Chapel, 2000 Valley Forge Park Road, in King of Prussia.

Registration costs $15 per person. The event is open to participants ages 16 years and older, who will be tasked with completing a fitness challenge consisting of three rounds of 50 burpees, 50 box jumps, running 800 meters, and rowing 1,000 meters, according to a statement from the veterans organization.

The upcoming event will honor U.S. Army Staff Sergeant Marc Small, a 29-year-old Collegeville native, who was killed in action in February 2009 while serving in Afghanistan.

“Every rep and every stride is a tribute to SSG Marc Small and all Veterans of the Global War on Terror. Unite in remembrance, challenge yourself, and sweat for something bigger than yourself,” said a spokesperson for the Washington Memorial Chapel Veterans Commission.
