It’s not every day that a community gets to celebrate three decades of dedication from one of its own.
This month, Horsham Township has recognized Officer Gregory Wittmer for reaching an incredible milestone: 30 years of service with the Horsham Township Police Department.
Officer Wittmer’s career has been marked by commitment, adaptability, and a willingness to step up wherever he was needed. Over the years, he has worn many hats within the department, proudly serving in a variety of assignments, including his time with the Highway Unit. His diverse roles have given him the opportunity to see nearly every side of policing, from keeping traffic safe to responding to community needs.
When asked to reflect on his favorite part of his career, Wittmer admitted that it’s hard to pick just one. “That’s a tough question,” he said with a smile. “But I’ve enjoyed the varied assignments I’ve held here. I’m most certainly thankful for the support I’ve received from my family, friends, and the residents.” His words reflect the heart of a true public servant—someone who sees his work not as a job, but as a partnership with the community.
Colleagues describe Wittmer as steady, reliable, and always willing to share his knowledge with younger officers. Over the years, he has witnessed Horsham grow and change, but his dedication to keeping it a safe, welcoming place has never wavered.
Beyond the badge, Wittmer is also known for the relationships he’s built with the people of Horsham. Whether directing traffic during community events, lending a helping hand during emergencies, or simply offering a friendly wave, he has been a familiar and trusted presence. It’s no surprise that he credits not just his colleagues, but also his neighbors, family, and friends for their encouragement along the way.
Reaching 30 years in law enforcement is no small feat. It represents countless hours of training, responding to emergencies, and making split-second decisions that protect lives and property. But for Wittmer, the milestone is about more than numbers—it’s about community, gratitude, and teamwork.
