Losing a faithful companion is never easy.
The Horsham Township community is mourning the loss of K9 Banner, a devoted police dog who faithfully served alongside Officer Andrew D’Arcy for nearly a decade.
Born on Feb. 23, 2014, in the Czech Republic, Banner joined the Horsham Township Police Department at the age of two. After completing intensive training with Officer D’Arcy at Tarheel K9 in North Carolina in July 2016, Banner began his career as a dual-purpose narcotics and patrol K9 — a role he performed with unmatched skill and dedication.
Throughout his years of service, Banner played a vital role in keeping the community safe, by locating illegal drugs, firearms, wanted individuals, and even assisting in the search for people in crisis.
His commitment to duty never wavered. In fact, during his final week on the job, Banner helped apprehend a burglar inside the home of a department employee, a fitting example of his loyalty and drive to serve until the very end.
"K9 Banner — Thank you for your service, courage, and loyalty," the Horsham Veterinary Hospital wrote. "You will be missed and always be remembered."
Beyond his work in law enforcement, Banner was a beloved member of the D’Arcy family, cherished by Officer D’Arcy, his wife, and their three young sons.
On Oct. 2, 2025, K9 Banner passed peacefully, surrounded by the family who loved him most.
K9 Banner’s courage, service, and unwavering loyalty left a lasting mark on Horsham Township and all who knew him.
"Rest easy, Banner," the post continued. "Thank you for protecting and serving with heart. You will never be forgotten."
