At their upcoming meeting, the Horsham Township Board of Supervisors will review two significant action items that could shape the community’s future development and local government operations.
Supervisors will discuss these items at their monthly meeting, scheduled for Monday, Oct. 27, at 7 p.m., in the Horsham Township Municipal Building, located at 1025 Horsham Road.
The first item on the agenda is a proposed lease agreement between Horsham Township and the Military Installation Remediation and Infrastructure Authority (MIRIA) for office space. The agreement would formalize the Township’s partnership with MIRIA, which has played a key role in addressing environmental remediation and infrastructure improvements related to former military installations in the area.
The lease outlines the terms of use, maintenance responsibilities, and financial arrangements for the office space, ensuring both entities can continue collaborating effectively on long-term redevelopment initiatives.
The second major item is the introduction of an ordinance to amend the Township Zoning Ordinance by creating a new Village Commercial District.
According to officials, the proposed district would encourage a vibrant, mixed-use environment blending small-scale retail, residential, and community spaces. The goal is to promote pedestrian-friendly design, enhance local economic activity, and maintain the Township’s character through thoughtful planning and cohesive architectural standards.
If approved for introduction, the zoning amendment would move forward to a public hearing for further discussion and community input.
The meeting is expected to include presentations from staff and opportunities for public comment before the supervisors take any formal action.
Supervisors will also review a request for waiver of land development from Squires Golf Club, 623 Cedar Hill Road, to construct a minor addition for locker room renovation and equipment storage.
