Montgomery County District Attorney Kevin R. Steele has announced a $7,500 reward for information leading to the arrest of Vernon Hatchett, 40, of Glenside, who remains wanted in connection with the death of his 21-year-old son, Tylim Hatchett.

Authorities continue to search for Hatchett as Tylim’s mother, Sherilyn Hawkins, 42, of Dresher, pled guilty to related charges, including Third-Degree Murder, Neglect of a Dependent Care Person, Theft by Deception, and Conspiracy. She was sentenced by Judge Wendy Rothstein to 25 to 50 years in prison.

Investigators say Tylim died on September 18, 2024, from severe neglect, weighing just 59 lbs. at the time of his death. An arrest warrant was issued for Hatchett on Dec. 31, 2024, charging him with multiple felony counts, including Neglect of a Care-Dependent Person Resulting in Death, Abuse of a Care-Dependent Person, and Conspiracy to Commit Involuntary Manslaughter.

Anyone who may have information about Vernon Hatchett’s whereabouts is urged not to approach him and to call 911 immediately. Tips can also be directed to Montgomery County Detectives at 610-278-3386 or Upper Dublin Police at 215-646-2101.
