There’s plenty happening across Montgomery County this weekend, with local events and activities offering something for everyone. From farmers markets and family festivals to live music and volunteer opportunities, it’s the perfect time to explore what our communities have to offer.
‘Kimberly Akimbo’
The Tony Award-winning musical “Kimberly Akimbo” runs at Philadelphia’s Academy of Music from Tuesday to Nov. 2.
The show combines drama and humor in telling the story of a teenage girl with a genetic disorder that causes her to age rapidly and how she faces life’s challenges with resilience, humor and a yearning for adventure.

Festival at Oaks
The Great Philadelphia Pumpkin Festival takes place the next two weekends on the fairgrounds at the Greater Philadelphia Expo Center in Oaks, Montgomery County. The event opens tonnight and runs Thursdays through Sundays through Oct. 26. Hours are Thursday and Friday, 6 to 10 p.m., and Saturday and Sunday, 2 to 10 p.m. The event includes rides, games and food. Free pumpkin with each admission.

Street food festival
The Philadelphia Street Food Festival takes place Friday from 6 to 10 p.m. at the Valley Forge Convention Center in King of Prussia. It celebrates the city’s street food scene with dozens of vendors, wine and spirits tastings and live entertainment. Greek food festival
A Greek food festival is scheduled for Friday through Sunday and Sts. Constantine & Helen Greek Orthodox Church, 1001 E. Wyomissing Blvd., Reading. Hours are noon to 8 p.m. Friday and Saturday and noon to 5 p.m. Sunday.
The event includes Greek platters, pastries, a la carte items in the taverna and fine jewelry and other vendors.

Keswick shows
.38 Special comes to the Keswick Theatre in Glenside, Montgomery County, Friday at 8 p.m. as part of a tour celebrating the band’s 50 years making music.
There will be a screening of “The Rocky Horror Picture Show” Saturday at 8.
On Sunday at 7:30, British comedy legend John Cleese will appear at a 50th anniversary screening of “Monty Python and the Holy Grail.”

Heritage Day
The Daniel Boone Homestead Heritage Day Fall Festival takes place Sunday from noon to 4 p.m. at the historic site in Exeter Township, Berks County, presented by Daniel Boone Homestead Associates and the Exeter Friends Meetinghouse. There will be open house tours, Colonial demonstrations, trades and hands-on activities, along with music and history interpreters, craft and food vendors and things to do for children.
The nearby Exeter Friends Meetinghouse will be holding an open house the same day. It is where the Quaker Boone family would have attended monthly meeting. It will be open throughout the afternoon and is located at 191 Meetinghouse Road.

Red Corner Benefit
The 16th annual Red Corner Benefit is set for Saturday starting at noon at 465 Red Corner Road, Union Township. The event features music, food, drinks, activities, bonfires and more. Lansdowne concert

Ardmore Day
Ardmore Day takes place Saturday fro 11 a.m.-4 p.m. in the Main Line community. The event features a dog parade and contest hosted by sports TV personality Michael Barkann, a family fun zone, food and more. Learn more at Ardmore Day on Facebook.
Art exhibit
“Colorful Inspirattions — Near and Far” is an art exhibit being held through Dec. 18 at the Mennonite Heritage Center, Harleysville. It features works by Linda Bohlman Trauger, her niece Lois Showalter Blankenship and Roy Blankenship. The exhibit features oil paintings, watercolors, acrylics and pastels of interesting subjects, primarily of Southeastern Pennsylvania, New England and the Middle Atlantic states. Orchestra concert
Reading Philharmonic Orchestra’s Side by Side Concert takes place Sunday at 3 p.m. at Brandywine Heights High School, Topton, Berks County. The hour-long concert is free to the public .This is a great introduction to live performance and allows attendees the freedom to go to the lobby or leave if young children need a break.
Rodney Crowell
Country/roots music veteran Rodney Crowell comes to the Colonial Theatre in Phoenixville Wednesday at 7:30. The Secret Sisters will open the show. Learn more at thecolonialtheatre.com/.
Squirrel Nut Zippers
