Horsham Township police responded to a report of a man acting erratically on Easton Road late Tuesday evening, Oct. 7.

Officers encountered Taire Dixon, 21, of the 8400 block of Fayette Street in Philadelphia, who was stumbling in the northbound lane and appeared heavily intoxicated, according to a police report.

Dixon’s pants were reportedly falling down, and he had difficulty walking. Officers attempted to make contact, noting a strong odor of alcohol and slurred speech. Dixon admitted to drinking and said he was returning from a Dollar Tree in Willow Grove but had already passed his intended bus stop.

Officers tried to assist Dixon to the side of the road and offered medical attention, which he declined. When asked to sit on the curb and later to stand, Dixon repeatedly resisted. During the process of detaining him, he struggled with officers, refused to enter the patrol vehicle, and headbutted one officer. Additional assistance from a Warrington Township officer was required to secure him. He also used his body to slam another police officer a patrol vehicle.

Police determined that Dixon was intoxicated to the point of being a danger to himself and took him into custody. No further details on charges or his condition were immediately available.

Dixon is facing a felony charge of aggravated assault and other lesser charges. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for Oct. 30, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. before Judge Todd Stephens.

Dixon was unable to post bail, which was set at $25,000.

All suspects and defendants are innocent until proven guilty. This story was compiled using public court records.
