IRON HILL BREWERY CLOSURE

Iron Hill Brewery files for Ch. 7 bankruptcy in wake of abrupt closures

Iron Hill is expected to liquidate all assets over restructuring

  • Business

Iron Hill Brewery & Restaurant, which announced its abrupt closure of all its locations on Sept. 25 via Facebook, has officially filed for Chapter 7 bankruptcy.

The Delaware-based company, which operated a restaurant at English Village in Lower Gwynedd, thanked its guests for many wonderful years of serving communities.

"It has been our pleasure to serve you, and we are deeply grateful for your support, friendship, and loyalty over the years," stated the post, adding at the end that Iron Hill hopes to return in the future, promising to welcome guests with open arms.

Unlike a Chapter 11 bankruptcy, in which a debtor can restructure its finances and continue operations, a Chapter 7 bankruptcy is a liquidation bankruptcy, often used by individuals over businesses. It involves the selling of non-exempt assets to pay creditors.

Breweries in PA posted a screenshot of an anonymous employee's phone of a message supposedly from Iron Hill leadership:

Dear Team,

I hope this message finds you well. It is with a heavy heart that I must announce the closure of all our restaurant locations effective immediately. Due to ongoing financial challenges, the company has made the difficult decision to file for bankruptcy and, regrettably, will be permanently closing its doors.

We understand that this news is coming with limited notice; however, we have been working diligently behind the scenes to secure new sources of funding and explore alternative solutions to avoid this situation. Communicating the financial challenges to the Team ahead of time would have compromised our ability to secure the additional funding needed.

This decision was not made lightly, and we understand the impact it will have on each of you.

We are committed to supporting our team members during this transition and will provide information regarding final paychecks, benefits, and resources for finding new employment.

A final payroll off-cycle payroll will be processed on 9/25/2025.

We express our deepest gratitude for your contributions and dedication to our company. Each of you has played a vital role in our journey, and we sincerely appreciate your hard work and commitment.

Days after the closure, Stove & Tap's parent company stepped in to offer a gift-card swap to customers and renowned Chef Peter Chang offered furloughed servers a new opportunity at the soon-to-open Mama Chang in Colmar.
