The Hatboro-Horsham School District proudly recognized an extraordinary achievement this week.

School board directors opened its monthly meeting by announcing that Alice Hall, a 2022 graduate of Hatboro-Horsham High School, has been selected as a 2026 Rhodes Scholar, one of the most prestigious academic honors for a student.

During her time at Hatboro-Horsham High School, Hall stood out as an exceptional student and leader. She excelled in her academic course load and was involved in the school community as a Link Crew leader, Red and Black captain, and a devoted athlete. Hall also was a student-athlete, becoming a 1,000-point scorer and served as captain of the girls’ basketball team.

"As many of you know, the Road Scholarship is one of the most prestigious academic honors in the world," Superintendent Dr. Scott Eveslage said. "Each year, it recognizes a small group of extraordinary young leaders who have distinguished themselves through scholarship, character, service, and the promise of making a meaningful impact on our global community.

"When she was at Hatboro-Horsham High School, we knew Alice as an exceptional student taking a very demanding course load," Dr. Eveslage said.

After graduating in 2022, Hall continued her academic journey at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), where she is currently a senior majoring in chemical engineering with a minor in Spanish. At MIT, she has contributed significant research in the field of sustainable technologies. Hall also continues to balance leadership and athletics as a member of the MIT women’s basketball team and as student body president.

As a newly named Rhodes Scholar, Hall will pursue graduate studies at the University of Oxford, where she plans to earn a Doctor of Philosophy in Engineering, where her research will focus on scaling sustainable heating and cooling technologies.

“Her work, leadership, and commitment to improving the world around her embody exactly what we hope for in every Hatboro-Horsham graduate," Dr. Eveslage said. “We are incredibly proud of her accomplishments and look forward to the impact she will continue to make in the years ahead. Kudos to Alice Hall on this remarkable honor."

The Rhodes Scholarship is internationally renowned for spotlighting exceptional young leaders who demonstrate outstanding scholarship, character, service, and the potential to make a meaningful impact on global issues. Only a small number of students worldwide receive this honor each year.
