Sen. Maria Collett hosted the first-ever First Responders Breakfast, bringing together local heroes and community members to honor the individuals who protect and serve.
The event took place at the Eastern Center for Arts and Technology, located at 3075 Terwood Road in Willow Grove, drawing a strong turnout from area police, firefighters, EMTs, and other emergency personnel.
"We had an incredible turn out of people that work in our communities that help us during emergencies," Collett said during her remarks. She emphasized the importance of recognizing the people behind the systems that keep residents safe. "We know that that sense of safety doesn’t magically appear."
Students at Eastern Technical School played a key role in the event, preparing and serving breakfast to the first responders. In addition to culinary students, those enrolled in safety and emergency programs also participated by discussing their aspirations for future careers in policing, firefighting, the military, and other public safety fields.
Montgomery County Sheriff Sean Kilkenny praised the event’s focus on both current and future first responders. "What’s great to see is the future here," he said, reflecting on the students’ enthusiasm and commitment.
The breakfast celebrated not only the dedication of today’s emergency personnel but also the next generation preparing to step into those vital roles, making the inaugural event a meaningful gathering for the entire community.
