This week, Horsham Township Council handed over a donation check to the St. Vincent de Paul Food Pantry, made possible by funds raised during this year’s Carpenter Cross Event.
The St. Vincent de Paul Food Pantry, located at St. Catherine of Siena Church, located at 321 Witmer Road, in Horsham, plays a vital role in locally supporting neighbors facing food insecurity. Volunteers run their “Super Saturdays” program each week, offering either home delivery or a drive-through “shopping” experience where clients can pick out pantry items.
"We wanted to thank the Horsham community and the parishioners of St Catherine’s," St. Vincent de Paul Food Pantry wrote in a post. "We received a lot of donations."
According to recent reports, the pantry serves over 100 families every week. In previous years, the pantry has helped hundreds of families each month thanks to dedicated volunteers, community donations, and strong partnerships among parishioners and local organizations.
Run by the St. Vincent de Paul Society at St. Catherine’s, the pantry relies on donations of non-perishables, hygiene items, and other essentials.
The Society also offers additional support, including financial aid, referrals, and other forms of assistance, in keeping with its mission to maintain both dignity and confidentiality for those they serve.
Volunteers pack food, sort through donations, run the drive-through distribution, and even make home deliveries.
With strong backing from local businesses, other faith-based groups, and community members, St. Vincent de Paul continues to be a cornerstone of compassionate service in Horsham.
The donation from the Carpenter Cross Event helps bolster the pantry’s shelves and its capacity to support more families. Thanks to this community partnership, St. Vincent de Paul can continue organizing food drives, stocking up on critical supplies like cereal, canned goods, and toiletries, and responding to increased need, especially through the colder months.
