Horsham residents and community members are invited to kick off the holiday season at the Horsham VFW’s Annual Turkey Shoot, taking place this Saturday, Nov. 22, from 12 p.m. to 5 p.m. at VFW Post 9788, located at 324 Sawmill Lane.
The event has become a community tradition, drawing locals for a day of fun, camaraderie, and holiday spirit.
The Turkey Shoot offers participants the chance to win fresh turkeys through a square-based game, a highlight of the festivities. Squares are currently available for purchase at the Post or via email at [email protected]
Individual squares cost $1, while a full sheet is available for $30. Participants can stop by in person to buy squares or contact the Post directly to reserve them in advance.
While the name “Turkey Shoot” might suggest a competitive shooting event, the focus is on fun, community engagement, and giving everyone a chance to win. In past events, the Post has used target-based games connected to the squares, but the primary goal remains enjoyment for attendees of all ages.
The Horsham VFW encourages the community to come together for this event, which has become a festive way to start the holiday season. Beyond the excitement of winning a turkey, the event provides an opportunity for neighbors, veterans, and families to support VFW Post 9788, a local veterans’ organization that hosts events and provides services to the community throughout the year.
Those planning to attend are encouraged to arrive early, as the Turkey Shoot runs from noon to 5 p.m., giving ample time to participate in the game, socialize, and enjoy the atmosphere. The event is open to the public, and attendees are welcome to bring friends and family to share in the festivities.
Squares are available now, so don’t miss your chance to join this long-standing Horsham tradition.
