The Horsham Township Zoning Hearing Board will consider two major zoning and map amendments at its upcoming meeting—both of which could have lasting impacts on future development.
The meeting will take place on Wednesday, Nov. 5, at 7 p.m., at the Horsham Township Municipal Building, located at 1025 Horsham Road.
Redevelopment of the Former Willow Grove Naval Air Station
One of the primary agenda items involves a proposed amendment to the zoning ordinance and zoning map for the former Willow Grove Naval Air Station Joint Reserve Base. The amendment seeks to rezone portions of the property and modify permitted uses to reflect the Final Preferred Land Use Plan for the base’s redevelopment. The proposal is intended to advance the long-term vision for the site, supporting a balance of economic development, housing opportunities, and open space that aligns with community priorities.
Creation of a Village Commercial District
The board will also review a proposed zoning ordinance and map amendment to establish a new Village Commercial District within Horsham Township. The district would rezone specific areas to encourage a mix of residential, commercial, and institutional uses designed around a pedestrian-friendly, village-style neighborhood. The proposal includes updates to the township’s schedule of sign regulations and aims to foster a walkable, community-focused environment with a distinct sense of place.
Residents, business owners, and other interested stakeholders are encouraged to attend the meeting to learn more about these proposals and provide public comment.
