When is having to place an important player on the injured list a good thing? Just ask the Philadelphia Flyers.
The team got some encouraging news on Monday morning when imaging to Tyson Foerster's foot and ankle did not show any fractures.
As such, a long-term absence for the Flyers winger appears unlikely.
The team still placed him on the I.L. on Monday, retroactive to Nov. 1. He will definitely miss the next three Flyers games.
They are hopeful for quick healing and recovery so he can be back in time for when the team hosts the Edmonton Oilers on Nov. 12.
A more realistic expectation, though, is on the ensuing road trip in St. Louis (Nov. 14) and Dallas (Nov. 15).
Still, having him miss somewhere between 4-6 games is a heck of a lot better than, say, 4-6 weeks.
Foerster was originally injured while blocking a shot by Toronto's Morgan Reilly a little more than six minutes into the first period on Saturday.

He was able to remain in the game, had 18:17 of ice time and even scored a third period goal. He was able to do so because he refused to take his skate off to have his foot looked at between periods because he knew it would swell up.
However, once that boot came off and the swelling ensued, it was pretty much a foregone conclusion that Foerster would miss some time.
The Flyers were hoping for the best, and got as good news as they could have received, given the circumstances.
With Foerster on the injured list, the team recalled defenseman Emil Andrae, who was a roster casualty on Saturday when the Flyers needed to recall center Jacob Gaucher to fill-in for the dinged up Sean Couturier.
Andrae has played well in his last two outings for the Flyers and if he's up he's expected to be in the lineup against Montreal on Tuesday, likely on the third pairing and replacing Yegor Zamula.
