The Horsham Township Police Department is actively recruiting motivated and dedicated individuals to join its ranks as Probationary Police Officers. This role offers a unique opportunity for individuals committed to public safety and community engagement to make a meaningful impact within the township.

Probationary Police Officers serve under the supervision of a field training officer and are responsible for a wide range of law enforcement duties. These include patrolling designated areas, responding to calls for service, enforcing laws and regulations, and supporting community policing initiatives.

Officers accepted into the program must complete a comprehensive training regimen, which includes attendance at the Police Academy. Successful candidates will be expected to uphold the department’s commitment to professionalism, integrity, and public service.

Key responsibilities include: 

  • Patrol assigned areas to deter and detect criminal activity and ensure public safety
  • Respond to both emergency and non-emergency calls for service
  • Enforce traffic laws, local ordinances, and state regulations
  • Conduct investigations, gather evidence, and prepare detailed reports
  • Build and maintain positive relationships with community members, businesses, and stakeholders
  • Participate in ongoing training and professional development programs

Applicants must meet the following criteria:

  • Be at least 21 years old
  • Possess a high school diploma or GED equivalent
  • Be a U.S. citizen
  • Hold a valid driver’s license
  • Successfully complete a thorough background investigation, including a polygraph and psychological evaluation
  • Pass physical fitness and medical examinations
