According to multiple international sources, white smoke has been seen over the Sistine Chapel, signifying that a new pope has been selected.
In order for a choice to have been made, according to the AP, 89 of the 133 cardinals participating in the traditional conclave, or a two-thirds majority, must agree on a selection. No announcement has yet been made detailing the decision.
