Steve Terrell Washington, 37, of the 5000 block of Fairhill Street in Philadelphia, faces a felony count of Possession with Intent to Deliver a Controlled Substance, according to police.

On Feb. 2, 2025, the Abington Police Department observed a black Ford sedan traveling in the area of Old York Road and Clovery Road in the Jenkintown section of Abington Township. The vehicle had a tinted license plate cover that covered the state, which made the state illegible and obscured.

According to police, upon a vehicle inspection, police discovered a Mylar bag containing a small amount of marijuana. Police also recovered a large clear bag, which contained six additional clear bags, according to police. Each of the smaller bags contained a large amount – approximately 600 – of green tinted flip top containers which are commonly used for drug packaging, according to police. A razor blade with an off white chunky substance was located next to the packaging.

Upon finding marijuana and drug paraphernalia, the officer approached Washington to perform a search. Once the police officer touched Washington’s front left pant pocket, the officer felt a large amount of flip top containers, according to police. Washington began to physically resist and was able to remove the containers from his pants and place them in his mouth, according to police. Washington then began to chew and swallow the containers, according to police. The police officer was able to recover six containers from Washington’s mouth, which were green tinted flip top containers that matched the unused ones in the car. Those six contained an off-white chunky substance alleged to be crack cocaine, according to police.

Washington was charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance with Intent to Deliver and other misdemeanor charges.

All suspects and defendants are innocent until proven guilty. This story was compiled using public court records.
