Morlaye Dean Yansaneh, 24, of 6300 block of Sherman Street in Philadelphia, faces a felony charge stemming from a traffic stop in the Willow Grove section of Upper Moreland Township, according to police.

On June 7 at 11:20 a.m., police officers from the Upper Moreland Police Department observed a blue Chrysler 300 on the 200 block of Davisville Road which had its inspection/emission stickers expired, according to police.

According to police, a strong odor of burning marijuana was present as police followed the vehicle. Officers then initiated a traffic stop at the intersection of Old York Road and Welsh Road.

While speaking with the driver, later identified as Yansaneh, police officers observed remnants of a marijuana cigar on the center console, according to police.

In plain view was a plastic shopping bag with numerous colorful zip lock packets with contents inside, which according to police, is consistent with packaging of marijuana, according to police.

Police then conducted a search of Yansaneh’s vehicle, which police were able to recover:

  • Two digital scales
  • Twelve individual clear bags containing marijuana
  • Seven zip lock packets identical to the new used/unused packaging, each containing marijuana
  • 76 new/used zip lock packaging
  • 33 empty packets containing marijuana residue

According to police, these items are consistent with weighing, packaging, and illegal distribution of narcotics.

Yansaneh is charged with a felony of The manufacture, delivery or possession with intent to manufacture, or deliver, a controlled substance.

All suspects and defendants are innocent until proven guilty. This story was compiled using public court records.
