A 2016 Upper Dublin graduate has been identified as the missing boater on the Schuylkill River on June 1.
Sean Hagerty, 26, was announced deceased at 12:15 p.m. by the The Montgomery County Department of Public Safety. The Pottstown Fire Department & Emergency Management assisted in the search.
The cause of death was an accidental drowning, the Coroner’s Office announced.
Rescue teams needed to utilize two swiftwater boats, staffed with trained personnel, as well as mapping software as part of the search.
Hagert attended the Universal Technical Institute, where he graduated in 2018. After graduation, he served as a diesel mechanic for Danella Plymouth Fleet for seven years.
According to his obituary, Hagerty “loved spending time outdoors and was drawn to anything mechanical, cars, boats, engines - anything he could take apart and rebuild with his hands. More than anything, his love for his family and friends was the truest part of who he was. He had an extraordinary way of showing up for the people he loved. His loyalty was unwavering, his smile contagious, and his humor unforgettable.”
