Upper Moreland Police Department officially welcomes its newest police officer

Upper Moreland Township will be seeing a new face protecting a serving the community. 

On Monday, June 2, the Upper Moreland Police Department announced that Officer Michael Capobianco was sworn in before the Township's Board of Commissioners during a ceremony.

Officer Capobianco joins UMPD from the Philadelphia Police Department, where he served for six years; and eight years serving the country in the Army National Guard. 

Officer Capobianco officially joined UMPD on May 5, where he began his four weeks of in-house training that includes familiarization with department policies and procedures, as well as getting to know the geography, residents and needs of the township. 

On June 1, 2025, he began three months of on-the-job training while paired with a Field Training Officer.
