David McDonald, 35, of the 1200 block of Pratt Street in Philadelphia, is facing a felony charge stemming from a shoplifting incident, according to police.

On July 23, a police officer from the Abington Police Department was contacted by a security guard from Macy’s at the Willow Grove Mall, 2450 Moreland Road, in reference to a retail theft, according to police.

Security told police that a male, later identified as McDonald, was initially uncooperative when they attempted to stop him, according to police, but was being escorted to the security office, as they waited for officers to arrive.

McDonald was observed on closed circuit television selecting the following unpaid items:

  • Polo swim trunks: $85 (x3)
  • Hat: $65 (x2)
  • Polo heavy-weight shirt: $39.50
  • Pink large life bag: $34.99
  • Polo bear T-shirt: $45
  • Polo classic fit swim trunks: $85
  • Polo chamois ball cap: $79.85
  • Polo big boy pony shorts: $49.50

The total value of the items was $718.49.

McDonald was observed selecting all of these items, except the pink bag, in the Men’s Department on the second floor. McDonald walked to the first level of the store and selected the pink bag and concealed all of the remaining items inside, according to police.

McDonald then exited the store passing all points of sale without paying for the items, according to police.

McDonald was found to have at least two prior convictions for retail theft, according to police.
