Each September, the adrenaline-pumping excitement of Carpenter Cross rolls into Horsham Township, drawing cyclists and spectators alike to experience one of the most dynamic racing events in the region.

This annual Cyclocross race, traditionally held at Deep Meadow Park, is set to move to Lukens Park, located at 540 Dresher Road, for 2025 — a fresh location with the same electrifying energy and challenge.

For those unfamiliar, Cyclocross is a form of bicycle racing that blends the speed of road cycling with the rugged intensity of mountain biking. Riders tackle multiple laps on a short course, about two miles long, that winds through a mix of terrain including pavement, grass, wooded trails, steep inclines, and technical obstacles. These barriers often force competitors to dismount quickly, carry their bikes over or through the obstruction, and remount seamlessly to keep racing. It’s fast-paced, muddy, and an absolute blast to watch.

One of the best parts? Carpenter Cross is extremely spectator-friendly. The course is designed so fans can see racers multiple times each lap, making it easy to support your favorite riders, cheer on the pack, or, in true Cyclocross tradition, engage in a little lighthearted heckling.

Carpenter Cross is an officially permitted USA Cycling event, holding its place as a recognized round of the Pennsylvania State Cyclocross Series since its inaugural race. Whether you're a seasoned racer looking to climb the rankings or a newcomer hoping to test your skills, this event delivers serious competition and community spirit.

Registration for Carpenter Cross 2025 is now open. This year’s race, while set at a new location, remains committed to giving back. All proceeds will support local residents in need through the St. Vincent de Paul Food Pantry, along with continued support for the Horsham Township Parks and Recreation Department, helping to maintain and improve the public spaces we all enjoy.
