He thought he could outrun the law on rollerblades, but it turned out that charges have better traction.
Michael Gordon, 32, of Hatboro, the armed suspect who was seen on roller blades robbing a gas station in Abington Township, has been charged in connection the incident, according to police.
Gordon was charged with robbery, aggravated assault, theft by unlawful taking, and other offenses.
He is being held on $99,000 cash bail.
The Abington Police Department was dispatched to 1945 Old York Road on Sunday, May 25 at 7:34 p.m. for a report of an armed robbery. An employee told police that a man armed with a handgun and a knife demanded cash and threatened to shoot the employee if he did not comply, according to police.
The suspect was seen skating south on Old York Road with the money from the register, according to police.
"The roller blades definitely stand out. His jacket was a two-toned white and tan coat, as well as a camouflage backpack," Deputy Chief of the Abington Township Police Department, Ed Quinn, told NBC10 in an interview.
