Shannon Lamar Gissendanner, 49, of Hatboro, is facing a felony charge stemming from an incident in the Elkins Park section of Cheltenham, according to police.
On June 25 at 11:13 p.m., an officer from the Cheltenham Police Department was dispatched to the area of Old York Road and Valley Road for a report of a physical dispute near H Mart, located at 7320 Old York Road, according to police.
Gissendanner and a female got into an argument inside Gissendanner’s black Jeep Grand Cherokee. According to the victim, Gissendanner stopped the vehicle in front of H Mart and physically assaulted her, according to police.
The victim told police that she was struck across the face with his hands, according to police. The victim also claimed that Gissendanner put one of his hands across her neck and squeezed while continuing to punch her with his other hand, prohibiting her from breathing, according to police.
According to police, the victim had a large circular mark on the right side of her neck that was black in the middle. The victim also had a red and black bruise on her cheek, and a scratch with dried blood on her left chest.
Gissendanner presented himself to Cheltenham police, where he was placed arrest under, according to police.
Gissendanner is being charged with a felony of strangulation and other charges.
