Upgrades to improve road conditions in Horsham Township are underway and it could affect local traffic.
The township announced that McKean Rd., between Goldfinch and Limekiln roads, will be closed for the majority of the day until Feb. 7. The closures will be in place from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. and the road will only remain open to emergency vehicles and school buses.
“The Authority installed water mains on McKean Road,” said Tina O’Rourke, business manager of the Horsham Water and Sewer Authority. “Right now, they are doing trench restoration."
The township allotted two weeks for the work to be done, but is hoping to complete the work sooner than that.
“The weather can make it a challenge,” O’Rourke said. “If it gets too cold, the plants aren’t open. We are hoping that it gets done sooner than (two weeks). They are out there actively working on it.”
Additional pavement restoration will follow on Mullin Road, Washington Avenue and on Welsh Road between Limekiln Pike and Butler Pike. There will be traffic control, but no road closures associated with the work on these roads, according to the township.
